International telework visa and residence authorisation

Spain provides a visa and residence-authorisation framework for qualifying third-country nationals who work remotely for enterprises outside Spain using telematic systems.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a third-country national carrying out remote work or professional activity for enterprises outside Spain. [1] , [2]
  • A recognised degree or professional training, or at least three years of relevant professional experience, is required. [1]
  • Employees may work only for enterprises outside Spain. Self-employed professionals may also work for Spanish clients if that work does not exceed 20% of total activity. [1]

Investment or income mechanism

  • The principal applicant must show monthly resources equal to 200% of Spain's minimum interprofessional wage. The first family member adds 75%, and each additional member adds 25%. [1]

Family
A spouse or unmarried partner, dependent children, and dependent ascendants may accompany the applicant subject to the published conditions. [1]

Remote work is permitted within the route limits; Spanish-client work is limited to qualifying self-employed professionals and capped at 20% of total activity. [1]
